A Korean manga in which 2 families get put together through the parents and there is a boy and a girl around the same age who end up being attracted to each other but don’t let each other know it. They go about trying to scare potential partners away through means of silliness and strange acts. This manga has only released the 1st volume but was extremely funny. I recommend it to all of ages 13 and up.

This is a Korean manga in which mystical creatures can grant wishes and control certain people. There is a hunter for these creatures who take advantage of the ordinary humans. This series is beautiful to look at; the story line is very interesting. Sharon found it to be disturbing but I find it to be appealing. Definitely a good read and it’s a short series. Good for ages 13 and up due to some graphic scenes (blood/violence/disturbing past).

Welcome to desert heaven~ The Antique Bakery, where not only delectable confections are served. This place serves up boxers, detectives, and old high school friends alike. When high status Keiichiro Tachibana decides to quit his job and open up a bakery, his father helps him by finding the best pastry chef; however, the Yuusuke Ono that his dad hires is the same guy he rejected in high school, shuddering at the fact that a homo approached him. Awkward? Amazingly enough Yuusuke doesn’t recognize Tachibana. Will what happened, happen again the second time around? Eiji Kanda is in a different situation. After winning many bouts and being beaten around whilst accomplishing that mission, Eiji’s has a problem that takes him out of the ring. Trying to find a new way of life, he happens across the Antique Bakery and looks for a job. With these thee running a bakery, will it survive?
Yoshinaga’s art in Antique Bakery makes the mouth water. With defined lines and clean shadings, the drawings compliment the story line without adding anything unnecessary. The first chapter is a bit difficult to understand with the story running back and forth between about three to four separate situations. However, after the first initial “adding of ingredients” the plot is stirred and the concoction begins to take shape. Antique Bakery is an overall amusing read with bits of dramatic flare and of course you can’t resist all those pastries flipping throughout the book.
Antique Bakery is for the open minded, what with the pastry chef, Ono, being homosexual, it can steer a person clear away from the manga. But like “Will and Grace”, Ono’s sexuality is mainly placed in for humorous aspects. After all, how could a “Gay of Demonic Charm” be harmful? Give Antique Bakery a try, with its subtle sweetness, light humor, and well rounded plot it is sure to please. Even if you don’t like the plot, the pastries are sure to please anyone’s eye. For Ages 16+. Review done by Sharon.

Oh my goodness. I adore this manga so much! It’s really cute and the character design is good and the story is just really fun to get into. It reminds me of real life and goofiness that happens in a school setting away from home. The main characters and their friends are really strange but it makes the story that much more believable. Good for ages 13 and up.

The drawing style takes some getting use to but it’s totally worth the time. This romantic comedy adventure is so strange and interesting that you just wan to read it straight through, the anime of this was really good too so anyone who liked the anime will definitely like the manga. There is some violence, good for ages 13 and up.

I honestly don’t know what to say about this one… I almost feel like I wasted my money if it wasn’t for the good artwork and my love for blood and gore. The story line is been there done that in all the movies of Japan with scary ghost haunted high school. I don’t really recommend you spend time on it, if a poor friend already has it and is offering to lend it to you, look at it for the sake of the artwork, not the story. Boring, snore fest. Because of major blood, violence, and scary situations, for ages 16 and up.
Death Note, rating: 4 1/2 of 5

The art is good, and the story is unique. They are coming out with a live edition show some time in the fall or summer. Same artist as Hikaru No Go. 12 volumes and is about a kid called Yagami who finds the Death Note that was conveniently left by a death demon. Whoever’s name is written in the death note, dies. He uses the Death Note to create his own utopian society. The police become aware of the highly coincidental cases and are on the search as well as a mysterious figure named “L”. Both try to be one step ahead of each other due to the competition between “L” and Yagmai. The story gets better as the volumes progress so stick with it. Ages 13 and up is a suitable audience. I was really into ballet and tap when I was little, still am into dance though and because of what the style was and the story was suppose to be about I picked up this entire series. The artwork is very nice to look at but the story is just average and none of the characters really pulls you into the story or makes you want to hope for their sucess. It's a decent manga. Good for ages 10 and up.

This is about a young girl who gets trapped inside another world in which she finds herself up against several people who want to kill her because of the role she assumes upon entering the place. Her destiny meets her in the beginning and the story is very very much like a lot of the other ones in which a random girls gets transported to another world and becomes super important. It's a decent series. Pick it up if you like those kind of stories. Kind of bloody so for ages 13 and up.

This is a really good story, however I must say I like the manga ending better than the anime which left me at a horrible place. This is the exact same style you get from the anime except they don't chop off the story line that is really adorable. They have great lines in this manga and it just pulls you through. Worth picking up. Good for ages 10 and up.

In order to be with Izumi, Miyuki dresses as a boy to enter into Izumi's school in Japan to get closer to him whom she idols after seeing him jump. A close relationship forms after being forced to be roommates and things explode from there. This manga is one of the best I have ever read. It has comedy, drama, and romance all bundled up and not over done. One similar to this that I will be reviewing eventually is Girl Got Game. Check both of these out. Good for Ages 13 and up.
